INTRODUCTION:

(Deuteronomy 4:2 [KJV])
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

(Proverbs 30:5, 6 [KJV])
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

(Isaiah 28:10 [KJV])
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

(Isaiah 28:13 [KJV])
But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

(2 Peter 1:20 [KJV])
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

All of the studies found here, whether book studies or topical studies, are done with research with mainly two things: The KING JAMES BIBLE and a plain old, 1828 Webster's Dictionary. Why? Outside of actually studying secular and Jewish history recorded in the Word of God and in any ancient records from many, which records support it, plus archaeology, one needs nothing more. You do not need foreign, dead languages that no one speaks, nor lexicons, nor concordances, nor commentaries, because they differ not only with one another and with the KING JAMES BIBLE, they create division, confusion, debate, and unbelief, apostasy, and a falling away from God Himself. We do not need them. That Word of God, written and preserved for us in our own language, is supposed to be enough, like the Old Testament was for the Jews, and as the New Testament was for the early Christians in Greek, Latin, Italian, Spanish, German, etc.

There are studies within as tangents on words, subjects found within the two testaments, as to broaden the scope of the study, to learn more, deeper truths. This is not an intellectual site with PhDs, theologians, and no worldly wisdom.. Check everything out, everything. Not just here, but with everything you read and see and hear. Be Bereans:

(Acts 17:11 [KJV])
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

(1 Thessalonians 2:13 [KJV])
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Exodus Chapter 20: THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, PERFECT LAW FROM A HOLY GOD

These ten perfect, holy commandments come only from God, Who alone has the authority, the Holiness to give this law, which can never be improved upon by anyone. These ten commandments are for all of mankind, given to Moses, through to Israel, to the Gentiles, still applicable today, except the Sabbath rest, which Jesus now is for all in the body of Christ. It is well known and understood by all wise people that these ten alone are enough for any one person, any marriage, any society, any nation, and the entire world, if they were to be obeyed, to keep order, of all types and magnitudes. Consider Romans Chapter 7 as your law school!

So, before the law is given, it must be said by God and remembered by Israel and us:

THE LAW: THIS VERSUS THAT, NOT THIS, BUT THAT

  1. LAW OF GOD Romans 7:22, Romans 7:25, Exodus 16:2, Matthew 5 (expanded, explained)
  2. LAW OF MOSES, Acts 15;1, and in the Millennium with a rod of iron-Isaiah 2:3
  3. NOT FOR GENTILES: Acts 15:9-11
  4. LAW OF CHRIST Ephesians 6:6, Colossians 3:2, 1 Corinthians 9:21
  5. JESUS WAS MADE FLESH, UNDER THE LAW: Galatians 4:4
  6. Jesus came to fulfill it -Matthew 5:17, Romans 7:25

MAN'S WAY OR GOD'S WAY: THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OR THE ETERNITY GENERAL

PLAN A: BE PERFECT AND NEVER, EVER SIN ONE TIME!

Any takers? I trow not!

PLAN B: TAKE CHRIST'S RIGHTEOUSNESS THROUGH HIS BLOOD SHED FOR YOU

Because Plan A has utterly failed, and God saved the Old Testament Jews in the same manner as us Gentiles in the Church age, (Acts 15:9), and a thousand other verses, we have grace through faith in the shed Blood of the LORD Jesus Christ on that Cross.

(Deuteronomy 32:4 [KJV])
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

(2 Samuel 22:31 [KJV])
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

(Psalms 19:7 [KJV])
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Romans 2:1 to Romans 7:25, WOW!

PLAN B: THE LAW GIVER IS OUR LAW KEEPER: GOD'S ARRIVAL VIA GOD THE SON

Many correctly explain fallen mankind as "spiritually bankrupt", which witness is true. One interesting comparison to bankruptcy law and God's Law is that, unless the debtor(s) acknowledge their inability to pay, the debt is not forgiven, that debt is never cancelled. That same is with our sin. We must admit that Jesus Christ had to pay a debt to God for it because we could not pay it, and accept Him as the debt payer, Our Redeemer, in order to have that debt of sin removed from our souls (Deuteronomy 18:15 [KJV])
The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

(Romans 3:20 [KJV])
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

THE LAW: NOT FOR GENTILES: (ACTS 15:1-12 [KJV])

(Acts 15:1-12 [KJV])
And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question. And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them. But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

THE LAW: OUR DELIGHT

(Psalms 40:8 [KJV])
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

(Psalms 1:2 [KJV])
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

(Romans 7:22 [KJV])
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

(Romans 7:25 [KJV])
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

We like to say that we are not under the Law, and we are not. God saved us and now keeps us, as His forever, because it was by His grace and mercy, but that redemption of us through the Blood of the Lamb the LORD Jesus Christ gives God even more of a claim on our behavior, our conduct in our walk with Him. He is our CREATOR by speaking creation into existence and our REDEEMER (by Blood)

JESUS WAS MADE FLESH, UNDER THE LAW

(Galatians 4:4 [KJV])
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

THE LAW OF MOSES

(Isaiah 2:3 [KJV])
And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

(Exodus 20:1 [KJV])
And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

(John 14:21 [KJV])
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

(Exodus 20:3 [KJV])
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

BEFO'RE, prep. [be and fore, that is by fore, near the fore part.]

BEFO'RE, adv. In time preceding.
You tell me what I knew before.

(Exodus 20:4-6 [KJV])
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

THE GRAVEN IMAGE(S)

(Acts 7:39-41 [KJV])
To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

(Acts 7:48-50 [KJV])
Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?

(Acts 17:24-25 [KJV])
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

(Acts 19:24-27 [KJV])
For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen; Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth. Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands: So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.

Man does not like it when you tell him not to make false gods, to destroy the ones he made, and made lots of money making

(Luke 2:13-14 [KJV])
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

(Revelation 9:20 [KJV])
And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

(Hebrews 9:11 [KJV])
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

The tabernacle in heaven, and heaven itself, are not of man's making

(Exodus 25:18-20 [KJV])
And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.

READY? This was a shadow of things in heaven, angels and all of the glory of heaven worshiping God.

(Revelation 4:6-9 [KJV])
And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

(Revelation 5:8 [KJV])
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

(Revelation 5:14 [KJV])
And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

(Revelation 19:4 [KJV])
And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

These angels, beasts around the throne worship God, no man on earth should therefore worship them, servants of God

(Revelation 22:8 [KJV])
And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

pagan popes

This is one seriously, disgusting display of an evil scene of open, accepted, bold idolatry done by a pagan "pope",
bowing down to a false, pagan idol of their goddess "Mary", who is not the same Mary in Scripture....not even close

(Exodus 20:7 [KJV])
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

GOD'S NAME

(Matthew 6:9 [KJV])
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

(Luke 11:2 [KJV])
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

This is the very first thing Jesus said when teaching the disciples to pray.

(Psalms 138:2 [KJV])
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

This gives all of what is read here and all of God's Word the authority over us to tell us not to do any of this!

(John 12:28 [KJV])
Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

(John 17:6 [KJV])
I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

(John 17:12 [KJV])
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

(John 17:26 [KJV])
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

(Exodus 20:8 [KJV])
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

(Exodus 20:9 [KJV])
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

(Hebrews 4:9-10 [KJV])
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

(Exodus 23:10-11 [KJV])
And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.

(Leviticus 25:3-8 [KJV])
Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land. And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee, And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat. And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

(Exodus 20:12 [KJV])
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

CHRIST: OUR EXAMPLE

Even though Jesus is God, being born a man on earth and still fully God, He subjected Himself to Joseph and Mary His mother, and to his Father in Heaven, as shown below, in keeping of the Law

(Luke 2:48-52 [KJV])
And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

(Ephesians 6:1-3 [KJV])
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

MAN: A HORRIBLE EXAMPLE TODAY

(2 Timothy 3:1-3 [KJV])
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

(Exodus 20:13 [KJV])
Thou shalt not kill.

KILLING: MAN'S WAY OR GOD'S WAY

Jesus Explains: IT IS OF THE HEART

(Matthew 5:21-22 [KJV])
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

GOD'S WAY, GOD'S COMMAND TO KILL

God, through the prophet Samuel ,commanded Saul to annihilate all of the Amalekites who had been a thorn in the side of OSrael, all that they were, of any age all that they had that was alive, both man and beast. We know every reason now why God commanded this through the Old Testament.

(1 Samuel 15:3 [KJV])
Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

When confronted on his failure on this one command, Saul blamed the people:

(1 Samuel 15:13-15 [KJV])
And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD. And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

(1 Samuel 15:20-21 [KJV])
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.

The cost? Replacement of King Saul by King David

(1 Samuel 15:22-23 [KJV])
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

At the heart level, Saul was and revealed that he was a killer, a murderer, when David becamse king, as he tried to kill him many times, until he himself was killed in battle.

THE DEATH PENALTY FOR MURDER: BEFORE THE LAW

Even prior, in Genesis Chapter 3:8, Cain slew Abel, but God spared him in His mercy, giving him a break to not get the death penalty, which God could have done. That death penalty was never once repealed, and is applicable today for murder.

(Genesis 9:5-6 [KJV])
And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

(EXODUS 21:22-25 [KJV])
ΒΆ If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

THE FIRST MURDERER: THE SERPENT SATAN

This murder was of all of mankind then, and now, and into the future, forever, in hell for the enemy and his minions and all of the unbelieving, deceiving and deceived

(Genesis 3:14 [KJV])
And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

(John 8:44 [KJV])
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

(Exodus 20:14 [KJV])
Thou shalt not commit adultery.

(Genesis 2:24 [KJV])
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

(Matthew 5:27-28 [KJV])
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

THE SERPENT, THE HEART LEVEL OF EVIL, PRIDE

(Isaiah 14:13-14 [KJV])
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

There was pride before his fall and deception of Eve in the garden, in his heart, as revealed here. Lucifer the light bearer becamse satan the deceiver, who is still deceiving mankind in the same manner, with the same lies, the same tactics, blinding the lost and the believers in tyhe apostyasy of the past days.

(Exodus 20:15 [KJV])
Thou shalt not steal.

STEAL, v.t. pret. stole; pp. stolen, stole. [G. L, to take, to lift.]

STEAL, v.i. 1. To withdraw or pass privily; to slip along or away unperceived. Fixed of mind to fly all company, one night she stole away. From whom you now must steal and take no leave. A soft and solemn breathing sound rose like a steam of rich distilld perfumes, and stole upon the air. 2. To practice theft; to take feloniously. He steals for a livelihood. Thou shalt not steal. Exo 20. (Exodus 20:16 [KJV])
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

(Luke 10:30-37 [KJV])
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

(Exodus 20:17 [KJV])
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

COVET, v.t.

COVET, v.i. To have an earnest desire. 1 Tim 6.

(1 Corinthians 12:31 [KJV])
But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

(1 Corinthians 12:11 [KJV])
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

It must be clearly understood that t his is coveting what GOD has for YOU, not wanting what someone else has, like somehow that would make it something you could steal after you covet it!

COVETING: WHEN AND WHEN NOT

(Exodus 18:21 [KJV])
Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

We are told here not to not only covet, but to hate it

(Exodus 20:17 [KJV])
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

(Deuteronomy 5:21 [KJV])
Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

(Joshua 7:21 [KJV])
When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

(Psalms 10:3 [KJV])
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.

We are to hate coveting because God hates coveting Himself

(Psalms 119:36 [KJV])
Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

(Proverbs 28:16 [KJV])
The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

(Isaiah 57:17 [KJV])
For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.

(Jeremiah 6:13 [KJV])
For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

(Jeremiah 8:10 [KJV])
Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

(Jeremiah 22:17 [KJV])
But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

(Mark 7:22 [KJV])

(Romans 7:7 [KJV])
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

(Romans 13:9 [KJV])
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

(1 Corinthians 5:10 [KJV])
Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

(1 Corinthians 5:11 [KJV])
But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

(2 Corinthians 9:5 [KJV])
Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

(Ephesians 5:3 [KJV])
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

(Ephesians 5:5 [KJV])
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

(Colossians 3:5 [KJV])

For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:

(2 Peter 2:14 [KJV])
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

ACCEPTABLE: FOR THE FIRST CENTURY CHURCH, NOT TODAY

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

(Exodus 20:21 [KJV])
And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

(Exodus 20:22 [KJV])
And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

(Hebrews 1:1-2 [KJV])
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

(Hebrews 3:2-3 [KJV])
Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

(Matthew 11:9 [KJV])
But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

(Luke 7:26 [KJV])
But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee. And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

(Revelation 13:14-15 [KJV])
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

(Exodus 20:26 [KJV])
Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.

THE HIGH ALTARS: THEN AS NOW

(Genesis 11:1-4 [KJV])
And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

If one wants to search for images, nearly all ancient cultures who had the masons and materials made their altars high with steps, thinking like the people at Babel, which was what God knew they would do and forbade them to do so.

What God wanted
tower babel
What man wants: a tall tower built to reach "god" and 'heaven"

THE LAW EXPLAINED: JESUS CHRIST (MATTHEW 5-7)

(Matthew 5 [KJV])
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

CHAPTER 6

(Matthew 6:1 [KJV])
Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (Matthew 6:3 [KJV])
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: (Matthew 6:4 [KJV])
That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:5 [KJV])
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (Matthew 6:6 [KJV])
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:7 [KJV])
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. (Matthew 6:8 [KJV])
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. (Matthew 6:9 [KJV])
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (Matthew 6:10 [KJV])
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:11 [KJV])
Give us this day our daily bread. (Matthew 6:12 [KJV])
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. (Matthew 6:13 [KJV])
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:14 [KJV])
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (Matthew 6:15 [KJV])
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:16 [KJV])
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (Matthew 6:17 [KJV])
But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; (Matthew 6:18 [KJV])
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:19 [KJV])
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: (Matthew 6:20 [KJV])
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Matthew 6:21 [KJV])
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:22 [KJV])
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (Matthew 6:23 [KJV])
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matthew 6:24 [KJV])
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Matthew 6:25 [KJV])
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (Matthew 6:26 [KJV])
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? (Matthew 6:27 [KJV])
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? (Matthew 6:28 [KJV])
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: (Matthew 6:29 [KJV])
And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. (Matthew 6:30 [KJV])
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? (Matthew 6:31 [KJV])
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (Matthew 6:32 [KJV])
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. (Matthew 6:33 [KJV])
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:34 [KJV])
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

CHAPTER 7

(Matthew 7:1 [KJV])
Judge not, that ye be not judged. (Matthew 7:2 [KJV])
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. (Matthew 7:3 [KJV])
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? (Matthew 7:4 [KJV])
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? (Matthew 7:5 [KJV])
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. (Matthew 7:6 [KJV])
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. (Matthew 7:7 [KJV])
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Matthew 7:8 [KJV])
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (Matthew 7:9 [KJV])
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? (Matthew 7:10 [KJV])
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? (Matthew 7:11 [KJV])
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (Matthew 7:12 [KJV])
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. (Matthew 7:13 [KJV])
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (Matthew 7:14 [KJV])
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:15 [KJV])
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Matthew 7:16 [KJV])
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? (Matthew 7:17 [KJV])
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. (Matthew 7:18 [KJV])
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (Matthew 7:19 [KJV])
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. (Matthew 7:20 [KJV])
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Matthew 7:21 [KJV])
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 7:22 [KJV])
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (Matthew 7:23 [KJV])
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:24 [KJV])
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: (Matthew 7:25 [KJV])
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. (Matthew 7:26 [KJV])
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: (Matthew 7:27 [KJV])
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:28 [KJV])
And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: (Matthew 7:29 [KJV])
For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Links to studies by book or topic are on the top menu.
